Dodon and Krasnoselski celebrated toghether the Day of Russia’s national unity. What do analysts say?
Igor Dodon announced on his Facebook page that he had a new, this time informal, meeting with Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski. He went to visit the Tighina Fortress (Bender) with his family and the host of this trip was Vadim Krasnoselski.
Dodon wrote on his page that he had “an informal communication with the head of the Transnistrian administration” toghether with their wives.
“We celebrated together the Day of national unity – an important state holiday of the Russian Federation, the strategic partner of the Republic of Moldova,” wrote Dodon.
The political analyst, Anatol Țăranu, says that this meeting challenges the Moldovan patriotism and the statehood of the country.
To go to a disputed area, a separatist zone, and to meet with the separatist leader, who openly states that he pleads for the passage of this part of the Republic of Moldova into the composition of the Russian Federation and pay tribute with him, to the National Unity Day of Russia, is equivalent to accepting the tendency of the separatist Transnistria to join the Russian Federation and even welcoming such a tendency,
declared Anatol Țăranu for Jurnal TV
Without giving details on the topics discussed with Krasnoselski, Dodon appreciated the discussion as a “productive” one and wrote that meetings “at the level of management” and ordinary people should take place regularly.
The meetings of the President of the Republic of Moldova legitimately elected with the leader of the separatist regime in Tiraspol is a violation of Article 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova. Basically, the regime there has usurped the state power over a part of the territory of the Republic of Moldova … With such people who have committed such crimes, the President meets. Moreover, he meets not to clarify some ways of settling the Transnistrian conflict, but he meets to celebrate an event of a foreign state, a state for which we and today are at war.

The most recent official meeting between Igor Dodon and the separatist leader Vadim Krasnoselski took place on October 29, at the state residence in Holercani. The president announced that a ten-kilometer bus line was agreed to open from Varnița to Tighina, and passengers would travel without checking identity documents. Tiraspol has decided to close some criminal files on behalf of some Chisinau officials, and the mobile operator “InterDnestrCom” will receive a regional license.
Meanwhile, the meetings of the expert groups from Chisinau and Tiraspol have been activated following the recent negotiations in the 5 + 2 format in Bratislava and on the eve of this week’s informal meeting in Bavaria. A group that met after a one-year break. At the same time, at the headquarters of the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol a meeting of the working groups for the economy was held. Acording to a statement from goverment the import mechanism was discussed through the Transnistrian segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border of planting material and seeds, a process that will be monitored by the Customs Service and the National Agency for Food Safety.
