Mass Media

The media includes all sources of public information that reach a very large number of people, such as television, radio, Internet, written press. The media assumes that the product is easy to obtain and has an affordable price for all social groups.

Being a state with a democracy in transition, Republic of Moldova has constantly maintained it’s international ranking as a “partially free” country, in terms of freedom of the press and freedom of expression, and one of the causes is the inadequate and inefficient legal framework for mass media. It’s non-compliance with international standards is also mentioned in the latest Press Status Index from the Republic of Moldova, conducted by the Center for Independent Journalism.

Following the political wars in the country, the media also supported a political party or another.
