Russian troops on the territory of the Republic of Moldova

Currently, the russian army continues to station on the territory of the Republic of Moldova (the Russian Troops Task Force), in violation of the full withdrawal commitments made by the Russian Federation at the OSCE conferences of 1999 and 2001.

According to the European Court of Human Rights, the separatist regime is at least “under the decisive influence of Russia”  and “survives beacause of granting military, economic, financial and political aid from Russia “

During his visit to Chisinau on August 24, 2019, Russian Defense Minister Serghei Shoigu announced that Russian Federation is proposing to start the process of using the ammunition stored near the Cobasna village in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, being ready to install the necessary equipment in this sense. Experts argue that this is actually a strengthening of the Russian presence on the territory of our country. Shoigu came to Chisinau at the invitation of the head of state, without coordinating the meeting with the Moldovan Government.

The head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Claus Neukirch announced that the negotiations in the 5 + 2 format regarding the Transnistrian settlement will be resumed this autumn.
