SURVEY H1: Republic of Moldova in the midst of hybrid information threats (propaganda, misinformation, fake news)
42% of the votes cast on the website www.h1.md claim that the Republic of Moldova is subject to hybrid information threats (propaganda, misinformation, fake news). Another 28% consider that they are about hybrid political threats, and 15% – economic ones. 3% believe that the threats are military. Another 9% of the votes say that our country is not subject to hybrid threats, and 3% do not know. Between 27 August and 3 September, 2634 votes were cast.
Hybrid threats have become a serious concern for the international community, taking into account their specific features, namely: “a combination of conventional and unconventional, military and non-military methods, which can be used in a coordinated manner by state actors or to achieve specific political objectives ”. According to the analysis of the director of the Association for Foreign Policy (APE), Ludmila Nofit, the final aim pursued does not necessarily have a direct attack on the state, but rather generates instability on all dimensions: political, military, economic, social, justice, mass-media etc. is shown in the analysis.
Thus, the phenomenon of corruption in the Republic of Moldova, rooted at all levels and in all spheres of activity, is the main threat to consolidating the rule of law and democracy.
The Transnistrian conflict directly decrease the security and territorial integrity of the country, generating political, military, economic and social instability and insecurity since 1992.
Energy security is one of the most vulnerable sectors of the Republic of Moldova due to dependence on natural gas and electricity from outside.
The influence of the church in the policy of the Republic of Moldova is an obvious one, which every year grows considerably in the context where about 90% of Moldovan citizens are Orthodox Christians, and their confidence in the church institutions is over 40%.
