The Orthodox Church (also known as the Eastern Orthodox Church) is a community of Christian faith. According to the number of believers, the Orthodox form is the second Christian community in the world, after the Catholic Church. Currently, the number of Orthodox believers is a majority in Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro and Ukraine. The metropolis of Moldova has been always close to the political class.
The church has been accused many times of being involved in electoral processes.
