Vlad Batrincea, President of the PSRM parliamentary group
Vlad Batrincea was born on March 31, 1981. Since December 2014 he has been a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. Batrincea is the executive secretary of the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) and president of the PSRM group in the Parliament (2018-2021).
He is one of the most active members of the party, also known for his active participation in the protests organized by the PSRM. Until entering politics, he worked as manager at “Covoarelor House” SRL (a carpet production company).
Vlad Batrîncea in 1999 was enrolled at the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the Moldova State University. After the first year of studies he was expelled due to the bad performances and absences. He followed his studies at the Slavonic University of Moldova, where he obtained his master’s degree in International Law.
Until 2011 he was part of the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM), holding the position of secretary of the Territorial Organization of PCRM Râșcani, Chisinau municipality.
At the parliamentary elections on November 30, 2014 he ran for the position of MP from the PSRM, being the 7th in the list, and consequently became the deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
On December 10, 2015, in the applause of his MP’s group colleagues, Batrincea broke in Parliament the map of Greater Romania in protest against the order of the Ministry of Education whereby this map was to be distributed in the schools of the Republic of Moldova for use in history lessons. The gesture aroused more controversy in society.
President Igor Dodon declared Vlad Batrîncea with the “Labor Order”, in February 2018, “for special merits in strengthening the statehood of the Republic of Moldova, a substantial contribution to the formation of civil society and prodigious activity in the social realm”.
Beside Batrîncea, other supporters of the “Moldovan current” were decorated, in fact, anti-Romanian, promoted by PSRM and Dodon.
In 2019, being part of the delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, he voted for the return of the Russian Federation to the PACE, saying “it will change history with the vote given for the return of Russia to the PACE”.
